As you may know, the City of Toronto is bringing a set of policies forward around laneway housing. It is expected that draft guidelines (Official Plan Amendments and zoning by-laws) will be approved at the June 6th Toronto East York Community Council meeting. After that, it will be brought to City Council for a final vote in July 2018.
In anticipation of this initiative, the Seaton Village Residents’ Association created an inventory of all laneway buildings thought to be converted to single and two-storey housing or studio space in the neighbourhood.
Seaton Village has 45 laneways and approximately 40+ 1 and 2 storey existing laneway houses and studio spaces.
We are hoping to learn how your laneway structure functions to better inform our discussions with the City and to help guide these new policies. Our purpose is not to threaten or remove existing laneway housing or garage studio conversions
We hope you can fill out these surveys; one for homeowners or tenants of a main house a second for the occupants of a laneway building (studio space/residential) and third for neighbours adjacent to those structures…Please note that ALL information is confidential. We will not share personal information or comments with tenants/homeowners or neighbours.
