On February 25, 2016 Marc Garneau, Minister of Transport, tabled the Canada Transportation Act Review Report in Parliament.
The Review acknowledges the risks inherent in the interface between commuter rail service and freight service (page 179) but as a solution offers (only) encouragement of interested parties to collaborate.
Minister Garneau stated the government is interested in hearing the perspectives of federal colleagues, provincial and territorial counterparts, indigenous communities, and private and public stakeholders in the coming weeks and months regarding the issues raised by the report.
Good news: The Review does open the door to a longer term permanent solution. Here’s a chance to let Minister Garneau know your concerns and ideas
