Important Planning and Development in and around Seaton Village

1. Dupont St Study:

Notices were sent out from Municipal Planning Department concerning an upcoming consultation on Dupont St. from Ossington Ave, east to Kendal Ave
Following a Visioning Study conducted by Ryerson University in partnership with Councillors Vaughan and Laytons’ offices and local area Residents’ Associations (including the SVRA), the study aims to further gather information and recommendations for the streetscape (not land use, as it is considered stable residential) on the north side of Dupont between Kendal and Avenue, and on the south side of Dupont.
The SVRA, Annex Residents’ Association and the Tarragon Village RA have expressed concern that this study is

  1. Isolated to studying the north side only,
  2. Needs to continue and include Dupont further east to Ave Rd and
  3. Must include a traffic study.

The initial “kick off” meeting tonight is to get feedback from residents so that the terms of reference for the Study can be finalized

2. Central Tech “Championship” Field Development

Ongoing discussion involving the developments to Central Tech’s playing field continue at the Committee of Adjustment February 19th, 2014
Both the Harbord Village Resident’s Association and the Palmerston Area Residents’ Associations contest aspects of the development and for a variety of reasons

While the field “improvements” and installation of the Dome are set to proceed as of September 1st, 2014, deferred was a decision on Community Use.
The matter returns to the Committee of Adjustment January 19th, 2014

A beautiful grand Annex home whose current owners seek to demolish and convert into 2 “modern” townhomes.

3. Community meeting to review findings of the Bathurst St Study: Monday, March 3rd

4. 1000-2 + 1004 Bathurst St. AND 667 Manning Ave

1004 Bathurst has been sold; however, it it not known if it has been purchased by the developer responsible for 1000-2 Bathurst St. That development is slated to begin in the Spring. Please see this website for plans for this site, approved at the OMB in August 2013

667Manning_plans – the Developer for 1000-2 Bathurst St has applied to redevelop 667 Manning Ave. It is a massive proposal that seeks to construct a 4 story apartment building in the existing backyard of the property. The total height for this building is 12.65 meters. Hearing date for this file is also February 19th (as mentioned above)

5. RIOCAN and 410 Bathurst St

March 24th – the pre-hearing date for RioCan’s application at the OMB  – Very few details are posted on the OMB website: http://www.omb.gov.on.ca/ecs/CaseDetail.aspx?n=PL130935
